Education and Communications

Culture is central to the development of Belizean National Identity. The study the past provides a foundation faltor our understanding of Belize’s Cultural Heritage.  The Institute of Archaeology through it Education and Communication Unit, is an integral component of the efforts to educate the public on archaeological and historic information that informs the past and present.

Cultural education is a growing experience. The Education Unit provides information to schools, communities, and the lay public across the country. We provide quality educational and cultural programs and services such as Archaeological Lectures on the Ancient Maya and Historic Periods of Belize, Career Day Workshops, and Law Enforcement seminars on Antiquities Legislation. The IA Education Unit also creates awareness campaigns, publications, and special events (Exhibitions) to nurture growing minds. These opportunities develop into the values, skills, attitudes, and commitment needed to address the protection, preservation and enhancement of our Cultural Heritage.
