Music is the most developed creative industry in Belize. There are more than 300 musicians in the country who produce a wide variety of music genres which include: punta, soca, reggae, reggaeton, hip hop, latin, boleros, cumbias, brukdown and pop.
The high season for live performances in country is closely linked to the tourist season and carnival time while most of the live performances outside the country are cultural exchanges or contracts at Belizean American organized events.

Music Schools
The majority of Belize's musicians are self taught but in recent years, there has been a push from the Ministry of Education to include music as the part of the national curriculum.Participating schools include:

Outside the schools are a number of privately owned music institutes that also cater to students.
