CONNECTING ART PASSION AND PATRIOTISM

   

Western Union Belize along with the National Institute of Culture and History announces an art competition in commemoration of Belize’s 34th Independence Anniversary, entitled: “Connecting Art, Passion and Patriotism”

 

The competition is open to all residents of Belize. Participants can draw, paint or use computer software to create their poster. The piece must be original and must include the Western Union logo. The Participant is free to choose any combination of colors and any style but must meet the following specifics:
• Paper size must be no bigger or smaller than 11inx17in
• Artwork should not exceed 1/4 inch in total thickness
 
 Entries will be judged based on: Creativity, Originality and Adherence to the theme. It will be judged in two categories: seniors (18 and over) and juniors (17 and under). Each piece regardless of styles should depict Love and Devotion for Belize. It should invoke celebration of Belize’s history, culture and its diversity, while sounding a call to build community.

 

Entries must be submitted by 5:00pm on August 12th, 2015 at the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) offices at the corner of Regent Street and Rectory Lane, Belize City.
 
Winners will be announced at a gathering at the Belisle Art Gallery at the Bliss Centre on August 25, 2015 at 10:00 am. The winner of the senior category will receive $1000 BZD and the winner of the junior category will receive $500 BZD.
