NICH proudly announces the opening of the newest addition: House of Culture-San Ignacio/ Santa Elena (Sisehoc).
In an effort to expand the infrastructure for cultural expressions and to strengthen national identity, the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) through the Museum of Belize/ Houses of Culture proudly cut the ribbon to mark the opening of a new House of Culture, Sisehoc.
Sisehoc will provide an arena where the people of San. Ignacio and Santa Elena could express themselves culturally and promote an understanding and appreciation of various traditions in the municipalities.
The opening ceremonies was held on Thursday, Nov. 25th, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. on location at #7 King Street, San Ignacio Town, Cayo ( downstairs the town hall). Present at the ceremony was His Worship the Mayor John August, Mayor of San Ignacio/ Santa Elena; Ms. Diane C. Haylock, President of NICH; Mr. Gil Williams, Administrator of NICH; as well as a cross section of the people of San Ignacio/ Santa Elena.
This marks the fourth House of Culture in-country; NICH is working towards opening a House of Culture in all district towns in Belize.
