Who are the people who excelled in creating one of the most inspiring civilizations, and what do the objects created tell us about these people? These are some of the questions which a new exhibit launched on Wednesday April 20th, 2011 at the Museum of Belize will be trying to answer.
THE JADES Of BELIZE EXHIBIT which has been running for the past five (5) years at the Museum of Belize and which is one of the most favored exhibits, will get a much needed addition to enhance an already extraordinary exhibit. Instead of focusing only on objects; it will put a human MAYA/BELIZEAN face on the entire display, taking the exhibit to another level. The new expanded exhibit which is being sponsored by NICH in conjunction with UNESCO is called, “The People Who Carved Jades and Their Descendants”.
The museum has been open to the public for eight years and last year alone in 2010 had an impact on over 10,000 visitors; with this many visitors there is the need for renewed, more meaningful exhibits, and hence we are delighted to announce a new addition that is both timely and much needed.
The new exhibit is on display at the Museum of Belize on Gabourel Lane during regular working hours.
