Belize Design Week July 4th – 8th 2011
Belize is taking on a new initiative to guide interested artisans and designers in developing new authentic Belizean designed items for product development and export.

This encompasses Designers – persons who develop ideas into final products by making sketches of their ideas, selecting fabric, colors and patterns that work together in a creative and functional way, and Artisans – persons who make functional or decorative items by hand or with hand tools which can include but not limited to furniture, clothing, jewelry, and household items.

To execute this challenge Belize will hosts its first ever Belize Design Week from July 4th – 8th 2011. The overall objective of this project is to enhance positioning and the export competitiveness of Belizean Designers and Artisans. Belize Design Week will be held under the partnership of The National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) through The Institute of Creative Arts (ICA), with Organization of American States (OAS), and Beltraide.
The Week’s Events will include:
Opening Ceremony - JULY 4th 6pm
Belize Design Forum - July 5th 9am—2:00pm
Design Market PLACE - July 6th—7th 9am—3:00pm
Fashion Show- July 7TH 8pm
Belize Design Week Cultural Gala (Tickets will be on Sale) – July 8th 7pm

These events will serve as an opportunity to highlight handmade Belizean Designs. Participants will be able to walk away of an authentic feel of what is being “Made in Belize”.  We are extending an invitation to all Belizean Designers, Artisans and Potential Buyers to work together with us on this initiative, by participating in the events organized for the week to display, or purchase creative and innovative designs.
