The National Institute of Culture and History through the Institute of Creative Arts, and in conjunction with the Kinich Ahau Art Committee, presents the 2012 Kinich Ahau Art Festival.  This festival is being held under the Maya 2012 Calendar of Activities and celebrates the history of art making and wood carving in this community.
Additionally, the festival especially highlights the wood carving industry in Belize, showcasing the various products and talent of the artists living in the Old Northern Highway area.   The main objective is to provide the general public an opportunity to experience the master wood carvers in action and be exposed to a variety of styles and innovativeness of local artists who are creating in their unique environment. This year’s event will feature a live art wood carving competition, live performances, music, food and games.
We hereby extend an invitation to you to join us at Altun Ha, on Sunday February 19th in Maskall village to support our local artists while enjoying the fantastic wood pieces on display, the food, and the festivities at the Kinich Ahau Art Festival.
For more information about this festival feel free to visit our office or contact us during normal working hours.
